Mai has an inhuman beauty about her, as if she was carved from porcelain and shaped by a masterful hand. Her features are perfectly proportioned, and there lies not a blemish on her skin. Pale moon colored skin coupled with inky black hair gives her a sharp and ethereal contrast. Her eyes are large with thick lashes and rather unnerving. In divergence with her lively features, her eyes are a dull grey-black. As if the spark that makes one human is entirely lacking. That one feature throws off the beauty she would have had, turning an exquisite appearance into something unnerving and incredibly unsettling.

Personality:

Mai tends to be both apathetic and passionate. She holds herself aloof from most everyone, and yet she can be fiercely attached. She is extremely proper, caring about precedence and things like that and she has an acute sense of propriety along with a deep sense of rules and laws. She isn’t exactly arrogant, but she does believe in her own abilities. Pride is an important thing to her, and she will not allow anyone to step on her. Consequently honor and justice are also important to her, although sometimes Mai’s sense of justice is skewed compared to the normal sense.

Likes and Dislikes:

Mai likes silence, moonlight, sunlight, warmth, the sound of metal on metal, glowing lights, dancing, origami.

She dislikes mud, rude people, and all tea in general.

History: Mai was born into the Nayonayo family, one of the main Noble Families of Soul Society. As the only child of her current generation, she was hailed as a special gift. She had a mostly happy childhood, enjoying the life of a soul born into aristocracy. Set apart from the normal members of seireitei, Mai was secluded as she grew. Her only experience with the outside world was through the tutors her family brought in to teach her.

As a little child, like many members of her family did, Mai bonded with a serpent along with a feline who both had been born on the same month and day as her. When the two animals were chosen out of a myriad of others, Mai eagerly accepted them as her companions.

And so she learned. Both conventional lessons and other less common things. Mai worked hard, and she seemed to have a particular skill, a knack for learning. Soon people began to hail her as a prodigy of the Nayonayo line, and for a time she was happier still. The sunlight shined brightly on her during that time.

After awhile, Mai grew restless. She wanted to learn the normal way. To experience things that others were able to. After begging and bothering and generally pulling all of her manipulative tricks out she managed to convince her father to allow her to enter the Shinigami Academy. She would be a late student, entering in the Sixth Year in lieu of her personal training, but it was still an improvement she eagerly grasped.
